School Community Definition
Living Hope Academy & Trinity Residential, together called the “School Community,” is a place meant to support learning, growth, and safety for everyone, especially children.
Anyone who is present on the school or hostel property—including students, staff, parents/guardians, workers, volunteers, and visitors—is considered a member of the School Community.
By being part of the School Community, all members agree to follow this Code of Conduct. Not knowing these rules is not an acceptable reason for breaking them.
A. Core Values and Principles
1. Respect and Dignity
Everyone must treat others with kindness, courtesy, and respect, regardless of background, culture, or belief.
2. Honesty and Integrity
Everyone should be truthful, trustworthy, and act with strong moral character.
3. Accountability
Each person is responsible for their own attitude, choices, and actions. Members should also report serious wrongdoing to School Community authorities.
4. Safety and Well-being
Everyone must help protect the safety and well-being of others, especially children.
5. Biblical Principles
Although some members may come from different faith backgrounds, all members are expected to act according to basic Biblical values such as love, kindness, patience, forgiveness, compassion, and humility.
B. Expectations for Proper Conduct
1. Speech and Behaviour
All members should speak and act in ways that are polite, encouraging, and respectful.
The following are not allowed:
- rude or demeaning behaviour
- abusive or unsafe behaviour
- gossip or bad-mouthing
- profanity or vulgar language
- discrimination or racism
- any action meant to damage another person’s reputation
2. Respect for Others
Be respectful of the beliefs, culture, rights, and personal worth of others.
3. Privacy and Confidentiality
Treat others with dignity and respect their privacy. Sensitive information, especially about children, should only be shared with proper School Community or legal authorities when necessary.
4. Safety and Security
All safety rules and procedures must be followed. Any physical or emotional harm must be reported immediately to School Community authorities.
5. Bullying and Mistreatment
Ragging, bullying, harassment, discrimination, abuse, and intentional humiliation are strictly prohibited.
6. Corporal Punishment
Corporal punishment is not allowed: No child may be hit, slapped, beaten, or physically punished in any way.
7. Conflict Resolution
Conflicts should be handled peacefully and respectfully. When needed, help should be sought from School Community authorities.
8. Academic Integrity
Cheating, plagiarism, and all forms of academic dishonesty are prohibited. Because of conflict of interest, LHA students may not receive private tuition from LHA teachers during the academic session, except during extended holidays after Term exams are completed.
9. Sexual Misconduct
Any sexual misconduct is strictly forbidden. This includes:
- sexual abuse of any kind
- inappropriate relationships between adults and children
- inappropriate sexual behaviour between children
- suggestive sexual talk
- sensual dancing
- making, sharing, or viewing pornographic pictures or videos
Any sexual misconduct involving children will be reported to the police and Child Welfare authorities.
10. Illegal Activities
The School Community has a legal duty to report unlawful activities involving children, whether on or off school/hostel property. This includes, but is not limited to:
- rape or sexual abuse
- child marriage
- child labour
- abusive or inhumane treatment of children
11. Unwanted and Addictive Substances
The following are not allowed on school or hostel premises:
- alcohol
- tobacco
- drugs
- paan with tobacco
Chewing paan, supari, or betelnut should also be avoided because of their harmful health effects, addictive nature, and poor example for children.
12. Banned Materials and Activities
Without permission from School Community authorities, the following are not allowed:
- offensive or inappropriate materials
- dangerous chemicals or poisonous substances
- weapons
- toy pistols
- knives or blades

- Spitting paan on the premises is not allowed.
- Waste and trash must be thrown in proper bins, not on the ground.
14. Mobile Phones and Social Media
The use of mobile phones and social media must be handled very carefully. Parents should be alert about children viewing harmful content such as:
- violence
- pornography
- bad language
- illegal activities
Everyone must respect online privacy and safety, especially for children. Because publicly sharing children’s pictures or information can lead to danger, posting publicly accessible pictures, videos, or personal information of children from the school or hostel is not allowed. Parents may post content of their own child, but they must not post recognizable photos or videos of other children.
15. Religious Practices
People of all faiths are welcome in the school and hostel. However, as a Christian community non-Christian rituals or practices are not allowed on the premises. Black magic, curses, astrology, and even widely practiced activities such as yoga or tai chi which may involve chanting mantras are not allowed as they are connected to spiritual traditions outside Christianity. School Community authorities reserve the right to prohibit any activity considered inappropriate or offensive to Christian values.
C. Disciplinary Actions
1. Investigation of Violations
Any reported violation of this Code of Conduct must be investigated seriously and without delay.
2. Progressive Discipline
Violations will be addressed through fair and consistent disciplinary action, depending on the seriousness of the matter. Disciplinary action may include verbal warning, written warning, suspension, expulsion. If a law has been broken, the matter will also be reported to the appropriate legal authorities.
3. Parent/Guardian Involvement
When a child violates the Code of Conduct, parents or guardians will be informed, and the school will work with them to resolve the issue in a constructive way.
4. Failure to Report
Knowing about prohibited behaviour and failing to report it to School Community authorities may also be treated as a violation of this Code of Conduct.
